Turkey was Selected as the Most Succesfull Country in Cogeneration Applications ■ Turkey was selected as the most succesfull country with its activities in cogeneration area by Cogen Europe. ■ Cumhur Ersümer, the Minister of Energy and Natura! Resources is given the Cogen Europe's award with a ceremony. "We started to recognize Turkey with the conferences and visits made by Özkan Ağış, the Chairman of Turkish Cogen Association" said Ton Van Der Does who pointed out that they view the activities in electricity sector carefully in Turkey. "Turkey is in a different position in energy sector among many countries in Europe. While there's excess capacity in other countries, Turkey meets energy problem. "lmportant supports are given to Turkish lndustry to increase the energy efficiency by cogeneration while producing its own electricity" said Mr. Ersümer. We Compete with Europe in Cogeneration Applications Cogeneration is the production techonology of electricity and heat together. Turkey accomplished important steps about Cogeneration by written decrees and instructions made in the last years. We; as the Cogen Association try to present these new techonologies by conferences and seminars when they come to our country. Encouragements were given to establishments that make their own investment and produce their own energy ( by cogeneration ). Because of the problem in using the capacity of these power plants; authorized persons of ministry took measures to make the capacity be used in a maximum way.
