HABERLER.. NEWS .. H A B ERLER . . N EWS .. TEMİZ ENERJİ GRUPLARINDAN AVRUPA BİRLİĞİNE: İKLİM HAREKETİ DEVAM ETMELİ İklim değişmelerindeki bozukluklar konusunda yapılan konuşmalarda; WWF, Avrupa Yenilenebilir Enerji Geleceği Ticaret Şurası, Cogen Europe ve Avrupa Rüzgar Enerjisi Birliği Avrupa Komisyonuna ve Avrupa Birliği Üyesi Ülkelere son 1 O yılda yapılan, global ısınmayı önleyici taahhütleri uygulaması için baskı yapmaktadırlar. Avrupa Birliği 2008 - 2012 periyodunda 1990 yılındaki GHG emisyonları seviyesinden 8% düşürme durumundadır. Avrupa Birliği emisyonları hedefine temel ve maliyet odaklı ölçümlerle ulaşılabilir. Bu durum Avrupa Birliği enerji arzında yenilenebilir enerji ve kojenerasyonun ikiye katlanması, enerji verimliliğinin yılda %2-3 artması ve toplu taşımacılıkta yatırıma öncelik verilmesini kapsamaktadır. COGENERATION WORLD & Renewable Energy With the breakdown of the Climate Change Talks in the Hague (COP6), WWF, the European Business Council tor Sustainable Energy Future (eS), COGEN Europe, and the European Wind Energy Association (EWEA) are today pressing the European Commission and the Member States of the European Union to implement commitments made in the last 1O years to prevent and mitigate global warming. The EU is committed by the Kyoto Protocol to cut its emissions of GHGs by 8% from 1990 levels within the period 2008-2012. The five organisations believe that Europe can meet these commitments through clean and renewable energy technologies, without needing to resort to trading credits with countries outside the EU. CLEAN The Commission is currently undertaking a detailed evaluation of the options to meet the Kyoto Protocol in the European Climate Change Programme. So far this process has highlighted the clean and renewable energy industries as a leader in delivering greenhouse gas reductions. ENERGY The EU emissions target can be met through practical and cost-effective measures. These include doubling the share of renewable energy and cogeneration in the EU's energy supply, increasing energy efficiency by 2-3% per year, and giving priority to investment in public transport. By implementing these policy measures the Kyoto commitment can be easily met and the basis tor deeper cuts will established. Therefore, WWF, eS, COGEN Europe, and EWEA cali on the European Commission to complete the European Climate Change Programme and on the EU Council to implement without delay its results. "Europe needs to take action to tackle global warming, because it makes environmental, economic, and social sense" said Stephan Singer, Head of WWF's European Climate and Energy Policy Unit. "By implementing cuts in CO2 emissions now, Europe will prevent and reduce disastrous climate impacts, while creating jobs and increasing its economic competitiveness". "The failure to reach agreement at COP6 should in no way diminish the coiıımitment to reducing the EU's CO2 emissions". said Simon Minett, COGEN Europe. "There is no excuse tor inaction. Europe must take urgent cliGROUPS TELL EU: mate action, while improving effectively its security of energy supply". Delia Villagrasa, es, added: "Europe's climate policies can bring about increased markets, and therefore a competitive advantage, and job opportunities for European industries involved in the technologies of the future". Vicky Pollard, EWEA, concluded: "Given current rates of growth, renewable energies are a key sector tor European economic development. But the EU and its Member States must implement a EU Renewables Directive to increase the benefits of renewable energy use".
