Cogeneration, Not Only Effectiveness, but Also Protection Today it is very important to have qualifıed energy to proceed the industrial and commercial activities. As most of the network events are spontaneous or have transient characteristics, it is not impossible to remove them totally but it can be abated. Cogeneration powerplants are the most effective and protective systems to keep the production stability contrary to those network events. Cogeneration powerplants, besides the contribution to the network system, with their own productivities, by protecting the factories which they supply energy for provide the best advantage. This, unfortunately, is ignored most of the time but has a really important role indeed. in this article, the reported network events and how the cogeneration powerplants has dealt with those events for B years in İstanbul Topkapi area have been searched using the statistic measurements (Table I). Apart from the production, cogeneration powerplant has been proved to decrease over millions of production losses with this protection (Table 2) Depending area, these values can be changeable but protection or qualifıed energy should be take into consideration. Protection is increased by availability. So maintenance, load shedding, ete. should be organised and done at the same time. While some investments are being planned, cogeneration characteristics have ta be considered.
