NTATION @ge:ıµu;aıü,_tJJ, -Wnsk rı a total experience of nearly 1 O million operating hours. CHP, using the gas turbine, provides the answer to most of the energy requirements of industry, especially where an organised distribution system is available. CHP can expect to make use of up to 85% or more of the available energy that can offer some substantial cost savings. Major customers for the Centrax generator sets include BP Energy, Dalkia, Elyo, Pocelanosa, Rover, BP/Amoco and IBM, in recent years Centrax has been offering the complete Turnkey package i.e. from initial design concept through to project hand-over. Now Centrax has considerable experience in the planning, installation and commissioning of the complete energy centre. The Gas Turbine Division's own Engineering Department works closely with Rolls-Royce in improving current products and developing others for the future. Maintenance facilities at Centrax are extensive and include full turbine repair capabilities. This allows the company to offer a range of support to customers from the simple supply of spare parts, through routine or emergency visits by fully qualified service engineers, to Full Comprehensive Maintenance Contracts (CMCs). ■ Over the years Centrax has seen the need to train ali customer support personnel i n specific areas which combine to provide the customer with a total specialised support package. Backi ng up this expertise, Centrax has comprehensive stocks of spares plus we endeavour to stock emergency spares at all our European facilities. ■ This UK based headquarters together with seven manned support offices strategically placed throughout Europe enables resources to be structured to provide the fastest response time and minimise downtime. The teams of specialist and resident engineers are continually reviewed to make sure customers' needs are fully catered for. Centrax depots in Europe are established in:- Spain, France, Netherlands, ltaly, Germany, lreland and Portugal. Over the years Centrax has seen the need to train all customer 56 rı ECOGENERATION WORLD support personnel in specific areas which combine to provide the customer with a total specialised support package. Backing up this expertise, Centrax has comprehensive stocks of spares plus we endeavour to stock emergency spares at ali our European facilities. Major components and frequently used parts (filters ete.) are strategically placed for prompt delivery. Recent months have seen Centrax win important new contracts both in Europe and in other parts of the world. France, for example, currently has one of the largest numbers of Centrax generator sets in Europe. Centrax has also recently won other European contracts. Portuguese ceramic tile manufacturers Recer has purchased, through its subsidiary Metalcertima, a Centrax CX 501 KB5 generator set. This will be part of a new cogeneration facility at its ceramic tile manufacturing site at Oliveira do Bairro, approximately 150km north of Lisbon. The new cogeneration plant will have a power output of 3.8MWe and allows heat recovery of 6.3MWth from the high temperature turbine exhaust (570 deg C). The exhaust is fed into the spray-dryer for the drying of the raw material, the remaining exhaust gases are used in a continuous drying process, allowing a global efficiency of 90 per cent. This increases the value of electricity exported, according to Portuguese law. in Poland, Centrax Gas Turbines has been awarded a contract to supply a CX5O1 KB? generator set for the Ostrow Wielkopolska District Heating Plant, 300km west of Warsaw. Main contractors Balcke Durr Polska SA, in co-operation with engineers ZAP SA, have purchased the gas fuelled, low NOx gas turbine powered electrical generator set package which will generate 5,200kw of electricity plus 11,600kw waste heat from the turbine exhaust. Ostrow is currently operating six 100 t/hr coal boilers for the existing District Heating scheme. One of these boilers is being replaced and the waste heat from the Gas Turbine exhaust will feed a new waste heat boiler. Replacement of coal boilers by a combined heat and power plant (waste heat boiler and gas turbine) reduces environmental pollution. The new investment will also have the benefit of reducing both the consumption of coal (from 25,000 tonnes/month to 21,000 tonnes/month) and the forming of slag. Other recent new customers for Centrax include a major Food producer in Taiwan who are to be operating three 5.2 MWe packages by the end of 2002.
